What a day! I need a day off just to unpack and clean and try and fix some things around the house. I can't believe how many things you really don't think to check when you move. Bathroom tub won't drain. Kitchen sink drains real slow. Dishwasher wouldn't work (Jon fixed that already though thanks babe) Can't get my car in and out of the garage. 90% of the lights in the place need replacing. Among other things I'm so far not too happy with the place. Good thing we're only renting it.

I'd have the drainage issued looked at ASAP.

  TRY THIS IN THE BATHROOM

 1.
      Step 1

Let drain dry out as much as possible. Leave it without running water for 24 hours, if possible. If the drain is wet, baking soda will not go down the drain in step two.
   2.
      Step 2

For big clogs (like a bathtub drain that is not draining at all), mix a half cup of baking soda with a few cups of water, and pour down the drain. For smaller clogs, you can reduce the amount of baking soda. Just be sure not to make the water/baking soda solution too diluted.
   3.
      Step 3

Slowly pour one cup of vinegar down the drain. For smaller clogs, you can reduce the amount of vinegar. Better too much, than too little, though.
   4.
      Step 4

Let the drain sit for fifteen to thirty minutes. While the drain is sitting, begin boiling at least a quart of water.
   5.
      Step 5

Pour the quart of boiling water down the drain.
   6.
      Step 6

      Enjoy your clog-free drain!

The joys of living in a house.  Roll Eyes

My arms are killing me from cleaning the walls, doors, door frames and base boards. Damn kids marked up every wall and base board! I have to start saving for a professional painter. I don't want to paint 2000 square feet of space.  Shocked

K first it's a rental house and we haven't been there a week I'm not spending a lot of time and/or money to fix things that aren't working. Second there is nothing draining out of the bathtub and we tried draino. I'm going to call the landlord and have her arrange and pay for repairs.

Get on it right away. You don't want to flush the toilet and have it back up all over your floor.

Well I think she should have made sure all the lights were working but that's minor. I have no problem replacing light bulbs but the drains are a big problem for me and so is the garage. The problem is the previous tenants really did some damage and I don't mind fixing some of it because I was sure we would have damaged the walls moving our stuff in too but we didn't.

Did you make note of all the previous damage? Don't want to lose your damage deposit because of previous tenants. I don't think I would ever rent out, too many idiots out there make messes of others property.  But there are good people out there too.

Yeah she knew all the damage before we went in. We're going to fix the walls and Jon and I have already fixed little things around there (mostly Jon but I fixed one tp holder in one of the bathrooms) I don't mind fixing some stuff as long as it's not major and won't take up a lot of my time. We're painting but she's paying for the materials.

Hey that is free labour, hope she is giving you something for your time. Like discount on rent for a month. To pay someone to paint is expensive.

No I don't think so. She technically doesn't have to paint because it's not major damage just lots of dings in the walls and some scuff marks. I think she has another two years before she's required to paint. I'd rather  have it painted than just all the holes covered and touched up. I don't mind doing the painting though. My biggest worry is the driveway and the garage. That's going to have to be something she will have to deal with the strata over. I'm pretty sure it's not building code to have that much of an incline. My factory honda civic bottoms out getting in there. Really sucks!!

You can come over whenever you like. Right now I need to find out what the building code is and my google searches keep taking me back to where I can buy a building code book. I just need a bit of info not a whole freakin book.
