what i am about to say belongs on no designated thread, so i'll just jam it here.
i'm a sort of inventor. i care not about making money from it so i just do it for fun.
i was watching 'mythbusters' the other day and it was about running an engine on gunpowder. well, they showed all attempts failed and THEN it hit me. i know how a gun powder explosion can be contained and used at a later time in a controlled way. this is not an epitome and i can not believe my idea has never been used. i love love love inventing ideas and have never had a boring day since my birth.

I like Mythbusters I saw that episode. Have you sent your idea into them? They might try it on the show if you do.

i had no idea you had those shows in england. lol, they probably started there like many of our shows have. i watch both of those shows too. anyway, i love thinking about things like that and never write them down.  just off hand, i remember another more simple idea of being able to set your phone to have different rings for different numbers. for instance, maybe at least 6 rings for your closest phone calling people. or, have you noticed how commercials are much louder than the show you're watching? this means the output signal must be increased and could be automatically detected and  put on pause during the commercials by any recording device. then, we wouldn't have to fast forward when watching a recorded show.

I hate when I'm watching a movie and there's a sh- load of loud fighting or something and then a really quiet scene and you gotta turn the volume up then BAM more gun fights. I imagine it's a lot like the commercial thing.

ah mandy, i thought of that already. that is on the same output signal and quite different from the commercial signal. unfortunately, my idea would not alter those situations.

however mandy, there is no reason why a computer could not equalize that just by volume of the sound. then, quiet voices would be equal to loud noises at the setting you choose. all of this technology already exists and could be easily used. i live in a dense neighbourhood and can't even have my tv up to daytime levels at night because of that, so it would be handy at night when watching tv. as of now, i just use the caption and read the tv til i fall asleep lol

this is one that can not be used, but would easily work very well.  instead of using an airconditioner and the compressor it uses to put gases under pressure to produce cold, tapwater could be used. any radiator could be used. we all know of radiators filled with hot water to heat our homes. even electric heat uses this premise. every aircondtioner is exactly like the radiator in your car in the sense of changing temperature.  cold or hot water runs through a tubing and its temperature is released by a fan blowing through it. to say it simply, anyone could use any car radiator or any radiator and use your cold  tap water to run through it with a fan blowing through it. the cost would be only of what it cost to run the fan. i simplified this, possibly, beyond understanding. i assure you as they are beginning to go deeply underground to find  heat for housing, this would also provide cooling.

i know water is not used in an airconditioner, but i had no time to correct it.  ''''cold or hot water runs through a tubing and its temperature is released by a fan blowing through it. ''''' change water to fluid or gas

gf, that is the exact formula/premise behind all changes in cooling and heating in physics

yes, I had to make my name sound important and attention grabbing. I enjoy nature videos such as Nature's Great Events, Planet Earth, and Animal Face Off.

There's a fortune to be made by whoever can invent something to eat spagahetti without going through a major production every time.

I saw that on infocommercials, called a "spork". Part spoon and part fork.

i know what you are saying. unless eating very carefully, we all get spaghetti sauce on our mouth and have to constantly be using our napkin while eating many types of pasta. fried chicken is just as bad, only the grease is not as noticeable as tomato sauce.

do they make a remote control for computers??? or, at least, do any have a built-in off timer. i wanted to watch an hour long show from my comptuer after going to bed and my computer only has hibernate, stand by and shut down. i can set some timers, but not to shut down when i want.
i could just use an extension cord and unplug it from bed, but i don't think you're supposed to do that. anyway, if there is one with a remote, i'd sure like to know cuz that's the one i'd be buying next.

so, no one knows about the remote???

i have another idea that i think is good--a lighted keyboard.
on cloudy days or at night, i have to put on a light to properly see the keys and yet i can very easily see my digital clock. so, i just thought, why not put that clock technology into the keyboard keys? i'll bet there would be fewer small typos and less, now unneeded, bright lights burning beside people's computers. the keys could possibly have an intensity setting with an on/off switch. ths would make them even useful on a laptop.

automatic lint cleaner in the dryer

you might think it is no big deal and manual cleaning is fine, but few realize cleaning it 2-3 times in the first 20 mins can cut the drying time down to half depending on what's being dried.
it is just like a vacuum with a full bag which greatly reduces the suction.  when the lint screen is full the hot air circulation in your dryer is cut way, way down and this greatly extends the drying time.
my automatic cleaner would clean constantly through the cycle and greatly reduce the time and the amount of power the dryer uses.
