Wrap some cellophane around the bandage, and seal in place with some good tape.  They do the same thing over a fresh tattoo...

It's nearly impossible...

A rule I'd learned from dirtbiking:  It's human nature to try to save the machine from its tumble down the hill, but generally it's best to jump as far away as you can...
