I have a 5 year old girl and an 11 year old boy... I want to do something all three of us and I have a car to get somewhere to do it now... I'm not sure what's good for both ages... We've done the lazer tag (not so good for a 5 year old) We've done the crash crawlies (a little boring for the 11 year old)... I dunno what to do...

I can't take my son till I get better myself... I know my daughter won't like it... I do plan to go again once more with Jon then he's going to come with me and my son... I'm going to take my daughter horseback riding the weekend after that... But there's really nothing I can think of to have the three of us do together and be fun for the both of them...

You think I should teach my kids how to play video games? I'm trying to get out and do something silly... I think I should have had my daughter a little sooner... they are too far apart in age to do anything together without either of them complaining...

I don't have children and I think it would be fun to go.

How about the Vancouver Aquarium Mandy?

Since you're out in Abbotsford, why don't you go to Castle Fun Park and play mini-golf.  My kids loved mini-golf and it's great for all ages.

Great ideas... I think the dinosaurs thing just might work... My kids and I have done the aquarium thing and it's not really worth the money they ask for it... and it's still a bit cold to do that... I've also over done Wonderland... Still too cold to golf outside and the inside ones smell like pee... And my daughter wastes so much money trying the games that give you tickets... She wants to do them so badly and can never get any more than 3 tickets per game... It's not really fun anymore... But I just might have to do the walk with dinosaurs... Thanks...

Why don't you prepare some cheap activities for them? Like an arts and craft afternoon. There are tons of goodies you can get from a $1 or $2 store that'll occupy them for hours. Do an arts and crafts projects with construction paper, beads, color pencils, water colors. Maybe make your own play dough. The five year old will probably get a kick out of coloring and doing that... dunno about the 11 year old tho...

If it's not too wet, you guys can always head out to Maplewood Farm. It's located in North Vancouver. It's a great place to meet animals and it's pretty cheap. $5 for adult and about $3 for kids. http://www.maplewoodfarm.bc.ca/

Also check out your local community for events. They may have family indoor activites on the weekend.

That's a great idea... I'm not big on the crafts and stuff and my daughter nevre has fun with me when we try it... We've done a lot of community events I was just thinking since I have a car I don't need to stay in Abbotsford to do something fun... I've done everything there is to do here... But the farm is a great idea rain or shine... We can get dirty if it's rainy... Just gotta cover the car in plastic before we go...

Why is that cute? I don't want mud on the seats... I have a rubber matt for dirty boots but my kids would get all kinds of dirty at a farm... Best to just cover all the interior with plastic no?

Greater vancouver zoo on 264 in abbotsford or is it Langley?? is much better then the maplewood farm! maplewood farm is geared more for preschooler, your 5 year old would like it but kind of dull for your 11 year old. all it has is goats, birds, horses and some rabbits!

That walking with dinosaurs looks to be pricey, good seats are over $70 each! the cheaper seats I think you might need binoculars!![V]
I think it would be cool being close up,not sure it is worth paying over $200 to see though!

Or bring towels...  I had a dirty job once, and I'd always have a large towel packed behind the seat to place down on the seat if I'd gotten too dirty...

Yeah I saw that with the dinosaurs thing... I'm not going to spend that much.. but it looks pretty cool just not sure my 5 year old would sit through it... I like the zoo idea in Langley but the other one you get to interact with the animals a bit more than a few animals in a cage behind a barrier... and it's a bit cold for that... I dunno kinda wish they both had the same interests... Getting sick of movies...

Here's another great tip. You can check out Family Fun Event in Vancouver here: http://www.findfamilyfun.com/eventthismonth.htm   I use this site constantly because they highlight family events each month.

A great place to take the kids is east hastings.  Its a cultural centre here in BC, and quite a lot to see.

Yes!  I recommend Main and Hastings myself...  Carnegie Center provides visitors and locals alike the opportunity to experience the finer things Van has to offer!
