automatic pic resizing was an excellent move

now if you can find a solution to the concatenated letter method all threads will be readable

and junior trolls will have to find something else to occupy their time with

in the messages below you'll find urls to sabotaged threads

i won't name any names but i know that there's more than one person pulling that stunt

or it might be the same user posting under different nicks

in an ideal world the guilty parties mentioned in this thread would go and edit their own post(s) to remove the offending bits so as not to inconvenience datwmod

but then we don't live in an ideal world

because in an ideal world people wouldn't resort to such measures in the first place [:p]

In this case I agree... Stretched or lengthened posts should be removed... I don't think an automatic banning is in order, as it's a lot easier to delete the post than it is for the users in question to form them. Eventually they'll get tired of stretching the threads...

banning is not necessary unless dealing with a repeat offender

for all we know the stretching may've been accidental or unintentional

or at least we can pretend it was for the first few occurrences [Wink]

Now why should an unpaid mod spend his or her volunteer time deleting stretched threads by some juvenile c-word like Hitler. Isn't it just easier to ban them and wait till they come back begging forgiveness?

That's just my opinion.  I don't care for people that are 'ban-happy'...  As I'd mentioned, it's just easier to quietly delete one or two posts than it is for the user to form them.  Banning should only be administered when it truly does become a troublesome inconvenience for the other users...

And I'll add...  That pic you posted would've earned you an automatic ban on DV.  No warnings would've been issued.  The pic would've been deleted, and your IP address banned on the spot.

This method of moderating works better...  The pic was quietly deleted, and it's business as usual...

That's the difference between moderating styles...  I wouldn't imagine the Mod/Admin here wants to receive any more 'begging to be unbanned' type emails than is necessary...  I know I wouldn't...

Not true. Posting that pic on DV would have got the same treatment if it was posted by a general poster. If it was posted by someone with "history"...they takes their chances. They have been around long enough to know the lay of the land. Also there is a big difference between a cartoon and HC porn pics.

I told you the story of the 'Leland Thread poster' posting that pic...

They didn't even answer her emails.  One pic she'd posted in jest in a thread that few regulars even venture into after many months of daily contributions...

And DV has never differentiated between cartoon porn and 'real life' porn.  Hell, it was an issue one night when someone posted genuine 'artistic' work that contained female nudity, which was quickly deleted...  It was genuine art from a long time ago, and it did have artistic merit.  That poster was lucky he wasn't banned on the spot...

The thing is, not all posters that get banned even make an effort to email the mods.  They just move on to other things...

And while we're on the subject, we have Regulator/Moderator X posting in a thread that he doesn't even check the 'deardv' email inbox...

Granted, he provided his own DV gmail addy for contact, but only in a single post.  What the hell are these people there for if they can't even check the official DV email inbox account?

I can assure you if I posted that pic there tomorrow when a mod is on duty, it would not only be deleted, I would also be given a warning...

Some of my past behaviour there has been a test.  A test as to what they will allow, and how they'll go about handling the situation...  I'm well versed in knowing how they generally deal with certain matters such as this...

You accept that position, you can deal with that box!  If not, step aside and let someone else deal with it...
