My Toshiba laptop very recently developed an issue...

Keep in mind that it's just over three months old from purchase date.

When the laptop itself is turned off, it emits a high pitched 'squeal' as long as the power cord is plugged in.  When the laptop is powered up, there are no issues.  The thing works fine otherwise... When it was brand new, I could turn it off and leave the power cord attached, and it wouldn't emit any high-pitched sounds...

Anyone else have a similar experience?  Advice?

I'd spent hours setting up this laptop, ensuring that it was running up to it's full potential, and now I'm wondering if I should just bring it back, demand a replacement, and start all over again...

that is strange, is the sound from the speaker, the fan, or some unexplainable electronic or insect source?

We use them in the field and they are rock solid....considering the (unintentional) abuse...

I've been impressed by Toshibas that I have run across, overall well built and reliable. I think my next laptop will be a toshiba.

Not a webcam, even though I have one...  Actually, I tried to record the sound with my camera, but it couldn't pick up the high-pitched audio properly, so I won't even bother hosting it...

I have something else that is interesting to post though...

Not at all...  The first image is from when I tried to film the 'high pitched' sound from my laptop...  I'd captured that image when I paused the clip for a sec after I filmed under my laptop while lifting the front of it up.  I'd saved the .AVI clip, so you're more than welcome to request it, if in doubt!

The second image is a pic that I'd taken after seeing that first symbol on the playback...  As you can see, there's no such image on the table...

I'd be happy to send anyone the .AVI clip, as I've nothing to hide...

After seeing that, I'd decided to take a pic of the entire table that the laptop was sitting on...  As you can see, no strange images...

That .AVI was taken underneath my desktop just now!  I'd only taken the second pic after I'd realized there was a strange emblem!

BTW, I have the .AVI full motion pic...  I forgot my youtube password, so I may have to re-register...

All right...  Here's the tinypic link...  This was supposed to record the faulty noise of my laptop until it was unplugged, but the recording device I'd used couldn't pick up that audio properly...  Focus on the beginning of the clip...  That's the same table as I'd posted just a couple posts up...

I noticed that too.  It didn't look quite proper to me either...
