Yesterday morning, I found mouse poop on our kitchen counter. Opened up the pantry and upon closer inspection, found little holes in our cereal boxes and oatmeal bag... dangit.

So I spent all of yesterday cleaning out our entire kitchen, systematically clearing and wiping down each shelf and throwing out any tainted food. I'm a bit of a clean freak and will NOT have mouse poop and urine droplets anywhere near our food or utensils!

Now I gotta do some mouse hunting. But I haven't decided how to catch it (them?!) yet and more importantly, what to do when I've captured the culprit(s)!  hmm...

Make sure you don't just catch the mouse/mice but also fix the problem as to where they came into your house... Check the foundation around the outside of your house and fill any possible holes in the foundation with steel wool... Good luck though... In SK I was in a house and across the street was an old couple that after 10 years decided to clean out and demolish an old shed and a bunch of mice got into my place.. We put mouse traps out but it wasn't good enough... within a month they had probably easily doubled or more and I had to move... I left anything and everything they could potentially hide in...

those little sticky papers are great for catching mice. what to do with it? will they say you don't have to pay postage if you mail something to your MP and another rat in parliament wouldn't hurt much.

I caught the mouse!!  What a crazy time!

Trapped it in the main floor closet...
Slowly taking each shoe out of the closet one-by-one and shaking it to make sure it wasn't hiding inside... emptied everything out except for the shoe stands/shelves and it suddenly appeared from behind and was running all around!!

I was following it with a paper tube taped to a jar and it ran around and started jumping so fast my hubby was yelling and my toddler was screaming... hahaha!

The mouse is in a glass jar on my desk, watching me as I type this.  Brown fur, big eyes, young male... he's cute!  I gave him some peanut butter to snack on and to calm him down as he's quite scared of course.

Well, I'm actually working right now though so I'll have to deal with him later tonight... [Cheesy]

With your face Mandy all the mice would have to do is look at you and the mice would die of heart attacks instantly.[}:)]

I wonder if that guy in the picture above is going to cook those?[xx(] There was a n email going around [bogus one at that] but it contained pictures of a restaurant preparing rats and cooking them up to look like chicken. the pictures were real but the email claimed to be from a Richmond restaurant. I think the real pictures were from China. did anyone else get that email?

I've never seen it and I am in Richmond.
By the way, if you get a lot of strange unsolicited email, you might want to make sure that your system is clean and free of spyware, adware, various forms of malware and the like. Most viruses and worms are designed to be spread by email.

Mice are annoying but in the modern age rather harmless.

Mind you, if I see a rat I will go after it to the death with whatever I have at my disposal....

I'd spotted a mouse in the house here not too long ago.

I bought an old fashioned snap trap using peanut butter as bait.  Place the traps along the walls.

Early that next morning the mouse had tripped the trap, and within a split second it was now in mouse heaven due to an instantly broken neck.

I know there's a style of trap that will trip a trap door once they're inside, and then you can release the mouse, but I'm not sure if they work as effectively as the old fashioned snap traps...
