They have yet to give me a reason...  Maybe one of the newer mods is trying to clone I.R. Mod's style!

Time to evaluate problems with moderators...  I am fairly well versed with this subject, and at the very least perhaps some good will come of this...

Fact:  Moderator in question that administered the ban not long ago disagreed with my opinion that handlejackers should be given one warning if new to the site, as the format makes it tempting, and there is no 'set' rule against it.  His mindset was to simply ban.

Fact:  My handle had an auto ban script written, and a regular user could not post with it.  The reason that my handle was banned is still a mystery, and I have no explanation as to why it was...

Fact:  This post, among others, were permitted by moderator in question in said thread...  Why didn't he ban the handlejacker, as he'd done in the past?

I was under the initial assumption that administration was toying with banned handles, as they've done before, so I stated that I'm going to push the rules a bit too!

I knew what the generally accepted rules on nudity and pornography are at DV, so I'd posted a couple pics with the 'questionable' area's blacked out, in jest!

Fact:  Instant ban by moderator in question, without warning or explanation...

Fact:  There's many very sensitive individuals at DV that will post 'ATTN: MODS' threads if they find questionable material.  No posters had any issues with the pics from what I could tell.  Not one complaint.  Most could tell what I was getting at, and had no issues.  It was done in jest...

I emailed them questioning the reasoning behind the ban, and I've yet to receive a reply outlining the reason why...

Sounds like the mod in question is following in the footsteps of I.R. Mod, and a few others that are no longer there...

Well, as long as the "Kill All Paki's, Spics and Immigrants" threads are allowed to flourish there, all is well I guess...  Discretion nor reasoning will not be applied to decisions made there...

I would say that the 'rules' are quite inconsistent...

As far as handlejacking, they do pick and choose who gets banned for handlejacking and who does not...

Anyhow, I'm done venting, so I'll leave it at that!  Time to move on...

k

I was just thinking with the changing of their software, how much the software itself was/is responsible for the heart and soul of dv

a change of software could really change the place, and it might not be for the better

other things that seem to change over the years.... the internet is changing, the younger generation is different, the attitude is different, not sure exactly how to describe it but it feels like there is less of an intelligence overall, more of just a guttural spewing of random baseness.... the ratio is shifting away from cleverness and more toward random grunting... maybe I'm just jaded

I agree...  I've never been one to back massive changes of their site format, but they seem finally ready to upgrade...

In my opinion traffic will slow, but many have been screaming for registration for years...  And now they will finally have it.

I predict that some of their old traffic will work its way here after the changes are in place, as this site all ready allows individuals to range fairly free, without the hassles of email registration...

it seems that many of the posters that do post on dv are attracted by the chaos and anarchy, the first impression the unexpecting get when they stumble on dv for the first time is "wtf, this place is insane".... a new more moderated approach will change that I would think

I agree...  even the trolls, which once seemed to have at least a little bit of substance and originality, are now slacking...

i am concern all those who enjoyed the anonymity of being insane would tranfer here.  We have already a glimpse of some of those people, the "less than ten post" people
