The interest in neptune is in response to his need for validation from anonymous posters on a forum. Girl is hoping that eventually neptune will not care what girl thinks. Girl is aware that neptune has many other problems (OCD, alcoholism, paranoia, depression, pathological lying) and girl has only pried open the lid on that can of worms.
