Suicide By Truck?

This accident happened in the spring of 1999, in British Columbia Canada. The young man in the Volkswagen Vanagon (a type of minivan) made the decision to end his life and chose "suicide by truck"...needless to say he was successful.

Both vehicles were traveling at highway speeds, the young man never hesitated, when the divided highway ended, he plowed head on into the first truck to come along.

He was ejected into the grille, then the windshield, then up and over the entire truck and trailer. The cop said he still had the Peterbilt emblem (from the grille) on his body. The impact zipped open the huge rivets along the hood, and pinned the husband and wife team-drivers inside the truck.

The wife was driving and managed to stop the truck safely on the highway, after the body broke the windshield and flew off, a folded lawnchair hit her below the nose and smashed her upper jaw, teeth and eye sockets. The husband was asleep in the bunk, and awoke to a nightmare.

That is a FRONT VIEW of the minivan, it's engine was under the truck. The husband and wife are no longer truckers.

Drivers who commit suicide while driving are often difficult to detect as most of these "accidents" are believed to be single car accident scenarios with a single driver. These crashes often involve high speed, alcohol and may not easily be distinguished from sheer reckless conduct, or unconscious, self-destructive impulses. However academic studies have concluded that about 1.7% of all fatal crashes are suicides with nearly 2.7% of fatal single-car crashes believed to be drivers with suicidal intent, and about 1% of all nonfatal crashes may be suicide attempts. These studies have fueled speculation that a significant unknown proportion of vehicular deaths classified as accidents are in fact suicides, especially single-car, single-occupant fatal crashes.

Why can't people just kill themselves alone in a room somewhere? why must they involve innocent victims in their final moments! Like the idiots that decide to jump off a bridge and then effect about 1000+ other people in the process!
Those poor truck drivers would be for sure f***ed up mentally for a long time! I know if I had some other person crash through my vehicle like that,I doubt I would ever have the confidence to drive again![!]

A friend of mine was killed in his truck by a stupid bitch blowing a stop sign.He tried to swerve to avoid hitting her and put his truck off an overpass.The truck blewup when it hit the pavement below and he burn't to death.I seen the whole thing happen as I was following him Something iv'e never gotten over.[V]

thats brutal! I would be pretty screwed up witnessing something like that!  My sister was in a head on collision,a couple of years ago when she was on vacation in china,the driver or the car she was in was killed and she got busted up a bit her self. The driver of the bus that hit them took off,of course! I am surprised she can get into a car still and function normally. If I had a bus hit me straight on and watched someone die beside me I think I'd be a nervouse wreck!

It was quite sad the body shop tried to match the existing paint on my truck but could'nt so they had to repaint the whole truck.[}:)]

the way people drive out there,now a day,I am suprised there are not more accidents then there are![!]
sh- driving up the cut the other day going slightly over the speed limit, I have one car on my left and another in the slow truck lane[far right] pass me at the same time doing at least 135k or faster! I didn't even see them coming  up behind me.I'm thinking WTF is everyones hurry!!! I like to speed up that windy bit of Mountain Highway which is located just after the exit from the TransCanada....

As for the cut... you need to gun it at the bottom of the hill so you don't lose too much speed by the time you hit the top... I like to use the far right lane to pass people as well...

If people like you just stay in your lane and don't do anything silly then we will all be fine.
