One of those everybody knows everybody kind of places. The ppl are sweet and when I moved here the entire neighborhood came to my house to welcome me with gifts. Can you believe ppl actually do that? Back home in Texas when someone new moves in the neighborhood the neighbors keep an eye out to see what they can steal .... lol

LOL ... yup! I know what you mean. Its really the best of the both worlds. Being born and raised in a place like Texas gives you nerve but this small town place brings out the sweetness and manners I was always taught but never got a chance to use [Cheesy]  Where are you from?

I spent part of a year with a broad near Elkton in Rockingham County, Virginia after working in the East Texas oil fields and trying to winter in Atlanta, thinking the Deep South would be warm in winter but there I was freezing my ass off in zero degree temperatures, good old boys in Virginia that's for sure like in East Texas or in South Carolina near Charleston where I lived and worked.  Back then it was all about going to the honkatonks and drinking shine and fighting and some of the good old boys would cause trouble with the local coloured boys but I didn't see the point, but I wasn't raised a Southern man.

I lived in San Antonio and there it was always hot. The whole time I lived there it snowed one time. All I ever needed to keep warm was a sweater. Over here I have bundle up good. Like that kid from that movie A Christmas Story. You know when they are getting ready to go to school and he's yelling I cant put my arms down. MM did you ever get into selling shine?

Shine is partly how I ended up in Virginia after running into some good old boys at a booze can in Atlanta who ran it in from the country and they had kin in Virginia who needed a good man to run it and act as security of sort especially after a bunch of them were picked up for running shine across state lines.  So I went up to northern Virginia and the their cousin was a hot little number and we fell in love and I spent several months there before things got too hot with the fuzz and I had to lie low and ended up spending several years roaming the South before joining the army and going to fight in South East Asia.

They were wild, crazy good times with a people and some call them rednecks or crackers or poor white trash but they lived as they wanted and stuck together with their clan, their kin and didn't take any sh- from outsiders or the government or anyone and were all tough as f***.

I went through San Antonio but never spent much time there, was always working in East Texas around Gregg County and Rusk County and the like.

Around here people still call them rednecks. Hell they call themselves rednecks and are proud of it. Its obvious all those shine running roots run deep around here. I get told stories from some of the older men and they talk like those were some wild days. Some of them have taken me to where some of the stills (did I spell that right?... anyway) were at and showed me how they worked. And "no" for everyone else reading nothing perv happend either. The men who showed me were real nice and respectful. But even the younger people around here like to call themselves rednecks. However, they call me a prepneck. They say because Im very "preppy" but still easy going enough to hang with them. So I guess its all good.

That pic you posted once before with that fish, was that really you? We used to go to Corpus every wkend. The fishing there is amazing. If you can catch anything that is. Most everyone did, except for me. I suck at fishing. I cant cast to save my life. I thoutht that was suppose to be the easiest part of fishing but for me its disasterous [V] Ok everytime I cast, my line drops two feet in front of me. Everyone else line is going 20-30 ft out and just plops down in reaching distance from me [V] Its aweful! This one time, I slung it as hard as I could and my line went ... still.... two feet in front of me but my bait was air born [:I] Everyone looked at me and said what did you do? I said hell, I dont know! I just want my line to go out further than I can jump [Cheesy] Every now and then I can get it out there and I will the damn thing out there instead of reeling it back in. I'm certain my bait is gone but I dont care. I know if I bring it back in, its going to take forever to get it back out there again. Oh yeah and here in Va I still go fishing out on the lake and yes I still suck at it. Its a good thing ppls lives dont depend on what fish I catch because they would die of starvation.

har! Yes, up at Kootenay Lake in the interior of BC! Corpus is salt -- salt water fishing, especially in the Gulf is harder than freshwater! You going after bonefish and stuff like that?

Us Canadians ride sleds, right? Replace "red" with "sled". Kind of like the Red Green show. [Wink] OK, you will have no idea about the latter, but anyway. [Cheesy]

[Cheesy] [Cheesy] Going after bonefish.... hmm... I'm not sure about all that. Usually my uncles say we are going to Corpus for the wkend wanna come? We'll make it a family trip. Lots of ppl end up going. Its one of those trips that helps the older generation bond with the younger generation. And of course I go because Im stubborn and want to catch some fish. I hate that I havent got the hang of it yet. So I continue to humiliate myself in front of my family over and over again. Every now and then someone will take pity on me and toss my line out. Then when I get a bite I get real excited and forget what Im doing. So everyone yells me reel it in! And Im like oh yeah...  And no, Im not blonde, just in case you are wondering.

Of course you could go. The more the merrier. Especially if youre a drinker ... lol. My step-dad tried to teach me to fly-fish. You now know my history with fishing so you can pretty much guess that didnt go over so well either [Cheesy] Which shows jsut how terrible I am because he teaches a class on it evey year at this national park that is near by. Ok so you said I would have no idea about the latter .. hmm.. do I dare ask for a simple explaination [:I]
