Now I sure as hell would hear about it if I was on the radio and called Chinese c***s or East Indians pakis and I think the term redneck the way they use it is also offensive. What do you think because I might complain to the CRTC about this one.
Are you trying to use the same logic as is commonly used with the "n" word. ie. African Americans can use the "n" word yet white Americans use it at their peril.
Redneck is no where near as offensive, is not racial and is used universally to describe a segment of soceity. My idea of what a redneck is :
- typically white
- from the bible belt (be that east of Aldergrove or Southern US)
- poorly educated
- deeply racist to the point of being borderline supremicist
Anyone with credentials like that deserves to be mocked, and the mockery wouldn't racially motivated.
Here's the deal. There are often times when other races refer to all white people as rednecks. And it obviously does offend some people, as evidenced by the fact that we are even having this discussion.
So either it's ok to use offensive names for people, or it isn't. Is it less wrong to call a white person a redneck? It'd be easy to argue yes. But it's still wrong.
I honestly couldn't care less if someone calls me a redneck, but the point is, you can't have it both ways. You can't get mad if someone that is white uses an offensive word, but then not care if someone uses an offensive word against a white person, no matter how you try to justify it. If you do, you're no better than any other bigot.
