I am always shocked at just how many people do not have house or apartment insurance after a tragic event whether it be a fire,,natural disaster, robbery  etc.

I overinsure everything!!! 5 mil on the car, fire, flood, even earthquake for the house.  theft is covered under my homeowners

I think some people that rent and do not own figure they do not need insurance,and are under the impression the landloards insurance will cover them!

and they don't... not even close.  big fire in coquitlam not long ago to renters.. entire house burnt to the ground, they lost everything and got NOTHING back

Most people with low incomes don't need insurance anyways b/c they got f***all worth insuring.[Cheesy]

It happens too often. Either they don't know that they need it or it's the very last thing on their list of needs. What if it was mandatory like car insurance is?

Yups, spend about $1000 a year on insurance for the house, farm, apartment (when I do rent one), and medical/dental.
