i just watched marketplace and they took a perfectly good computer with one purposely flawed ram chip to 10 shops and not one charged a fair rate and only 3 found it. others were changing hard drives and motherboards and cpus. it is almost better to just buy new.

yck I saw that show too, unbelievable how dishonest some people can be, the one guy starts in with the "it looks pretty bad, we might have to send your computer far away to a special fortified dust free chamber and even then it might be no hope for it"

the code may be all right. however, messing around will one day get you stung without knowing it and it will cost you big bucks. the marketplace computer was virus free and one of many lies they were all saying was it had viruses. you just can not trust such specialized techies who have no one controlling them. how do we even know they are specialists?
