Out of curiosity, what have you given for your boss as a Christmas present? What's a good suggestion for your boss? Like you don't want to appear too cheap but at the same time you don't want to go overboard with the whole idea.

I've given:

a) Starbuck gift packages
b) chocolates
c) salmon kit package

Those all sound quite nice! Is your boss female? You could also give a bottle of wine or a little gift basket with some assorted  stuff in it.

It was much harder to buy her a gift. I spent weeks agonizing over what to get her because she's so picky. Meh. It's so hard to shop for a woman than it is for a man.

Too bad she doesn't drink otherwise your wine idea and package would have been good.

Hmm... assorted tea. Oh yeah, she does drink tea. Thanks! Good idea. Tea is big business these days. Can't give her bath products, I remember her complaining about getting bath bubbles. She doesn't do bath. WHAT KINDA WOMAN doesn't like bubble bath...? Smiley

My boss wants me to organize two days of volunteering on company time... it's like giving without giving cash... How much you wanna bet the boss will be the one to offer to keep an "eye" on work and answer phones and everything while the rest of us do the volunteer work? Either way it's ok with me... I never had a problem volunteering.

You should look into "habitat for humanity" a good cause plus you learn something...

But you know... if you want to get on the good side of your boss, shouldn't you at least give him or her something? Maybe increase your chance of getting promoted?

Volunteer work? Wow. This is the first I've heard of it. Is that legal?

You could volunteer to be sex surrogates for shut-ins and other people with challenges who can't get laid. It's a recognized and effective therapy and what a Christmas present....

It's legal if he pays us to work at another place for the day... So we'll all get paid but nothing will happen at work we'll just be doing something else... Like habitat for humanity, or cooking for a homeless shelter, or going to the hospital to play with the terminally ill children... I don't know but I know it's perfectly legal if we're still getting paid.. and since it's on company time it's tax deductable... I think.
