no sleep is bad, don't think of it as a "tonight" thing, lie down and go into dream state now if you can, even little bits here and there can make a big difference

Being in disaster restoration I am on call 24/7 365 days a year.I extracted water in Calgary over 10 years ago and slept about 10 hours in 2 weeks.[Sad]But the money doesnt care if you sleep.[Smiley]Look at how I also restored Albertas economy before I retired that took over 2 weeks to complete.I was paid very well with the oil revenues.[Smiley]

I quite often go 72 hours without sleep! I am the worlds worse sleeper! I suffer from severe insommnia, I do have prescription sleeping pills but try not to take them unless I really need to! I do not want to become dependent on pills! ya it sucks being tired. I find getting out and having a good hike 11/2 to 2 hours really helps me sleep later on,and I cannot touch caffeine after say 3pm or that keeps me up.I find if I have anything on my mind too,I tend to think too much and then can't sleep.I should probably learn how to meditate or something like that to relax!
Also sometime I put on one of those eye masks to block out any light,it helps to have complete darkness.I hate it when I am not quite a sleep and then you here your spouse start to snore!!!

Hi Tasha!! Did you get my email?

NS, i had been on sleeping pills for years, i never became dependent on them, but I did become immune to them.  That leaves me in the world of non rest! Especially considering my recent turmoil.  72 hours is a long time without sleep consecutively.  How do you cope with it?

Yes I become immune from them too if I take them too often,I find I still just lie awake at night. I just go about the day tired and get bitchy sometimes! Then I'll have a half decent sleep out of the blue! I think I must doze during the night 10 or 15 minutes here and there, I've heard people actually sleep when they don't think they have had any sleep. [|)] it is difficult, I think it is from too much stress[Sad!]

forn, don't forget those vitamin supplements! i'd probably even reccommend getting a protein shake in once in a while during these events, and maybe even get a stock of some v-8 (low sodium) and you can always spike the V8 with a little vodkie, tabasco and a celery stick!  Keep those batteries charged man!

3 hours of sleep when the wee ones came. That was the worst. Not only do you have to fight off sleep, you have to hold this precious person in your hands (AND NOT DROP IT!) then change diapers and whatever. By the end of it, you're pissed bad mood and a zoombie to boot. And you can't drink coffee because you'll pass the effects off to your baby.

But having said that, I wouldn't trade it for all the gold in the world...

i drove from calgary to edmonton to saskatoon to regina and then to winnipeg before getting a room and crashing. i spent time in edmonton and saskatoon handling some work. i never slept for a minute. i was on no drugs except coffee and when i was laying in my winnipeg hotel room with my eyes closed, i saw road lines passing by in my head until i passed out. i think it was under 2 days, i can't remember.

A buddy of mine used to hit up the meth quite hard.  I went over to his place once, and he said he'd been up for six days straight.  All he did in those six days was play around with electronic items...  He took his computer apart, his radio, his TV...  Quite sad, actually...  Although him being convinced the 'dust bunnies' were causing his electronic items to slow down was somewhat entertaining...

When I was in the army it was common to go a long time without sleep when we were humping through the bush.  Too wired to sleep with gooks out there with their sights on you.
