I had an eight track player that recorded, it was funny because sometimes you'd be recording and it would get to the end of the tape and would click to the next track and keep recording, but in the middle of your song would be that interrruption

actually they sold commercial releases like that too sometimes, where a song would be broken up between tracks

they weren't that common, but they were around just before cassettes started to get popular for music (cassettes had been around before that, but mostly were just used for mono recording of voices and stuff)

i bought just cassettes, but i had an old '77 lincoln that had an 8 track player built in. i found one of those adapters that just went in where the 8 track tape goes and it would play my cassettes quite well.

I've got a ton of old vinyl that I don't have the heart to get rid of. Too much nostalgia and memories of a happy period in my life I guess. One day I'll invest in a quality turn table and I'll relive the good times. On a side note: turn tables have experienced something of a come back over the last few years.

I kind of regret getting rid of ALL our vinyles. sh- we sold all of them at a garage sale for like 25 or 50 cents each.I didn't think we would be able to find a turntable again.
who knew they would ever make a comeback.
Now I have kept some of the kids VHS tapes. After spending hundreds of dollars on disney movies,I figure I'll hang onto the good ones a bit longer. At least until you cannot buy a video player  anymore.

I've got at least 350 old VHS tapes not to mention all the stuff that I have recorded myself (even more hundreds!). I've got at least 100 DVD's so I bought 2 DVD/VHS combo machines and now have the best of both worlds. VHS movies are a dime a dozen and I have no qualms about buying them when I see them on sale, yard sales, etc.

I just picked up a brand new sealed copy of "Citizen Kane" for my husband, he likes that movie. I only paid 50 cents for it. LOL
I figure if we go down to California and see the Hearse castle it would be a good conversation piece ahead of time to learn about Randol Hearse,as that is who the movie is based on.

I'm from the compact disc era, but I've seen many 8 track tapes at the Flea Market.
