Fifth Estate: Benny Hinn

Has anyone seen the Fifth Estate's documentary on TV Evangalist Benny Hinn? Quite interesting. I can't understand why people would believe in him and give him millions of $$$ thus enabling him to live the good life.

He's a con man, no matter how you sugar coat it. What's worst is that he preys on people's hopes and dreams and has no regrets over it.

What a scumbag. Staying in $10,000 a night suites in Italy on church money.

These shysters who prey (pray, even...?) on the sick and desperate deserve to smacked around.

I know! I couldn't believe the amount he takes from the church just so he can live in the lap of luxury. The funny part is he gave only $20.00 to a homeless woman with baby. The nerve of the guy.

What's that saying? People are sheeps....

The people he goes after are totally desperate. Making promises about curing the cancer of terminally ill people is sure to turn a few heads and open a few wallets.

It's the sickest of sick things.

You don't see him offering to fix the broken ribs of mixed martial artists for good reason...he prefers people who can't fight back.

Exactly. They pick and choose the people who go before him. I cannot believe the little girl who's legs were so crippled and wasted away - she and her mom just wanted to see him. And they wouldn't let them. So heartbreaking to see them being turned away. She's only five or something.

I can't believe he can do it all with a smile on his face and the 'word' of God on his back. Forgive my language but what a complete 'asshole'.

No. He doesn't actually heal them. In fact most of the people do not get healed at all but him and his church claimed they do. That's what's sick about the whole thing. He would claim that he can heal your diabetes, your HIV infection, your cancer... all for a price. The more you give, the greater your chances of being healed.

He spends $40,000 a day on his entourage, has private jets etc. etc.

And no, he doesn't heal people, he simply relieves them of their money.

I mean, come on, some guy is going to channel the spirit of God through him and heal you with a touch?

This guy should be locked up for fraud.

If you have Vison TV, he's on it a lot. The religious channel.

Unfortunately, you can't prove he's a fraud. According to the documentary, his church is not liable to give out any financial information because they're a charity. No obligated to tell the public what he spends and do with the money.

I seriously can't understand how these guys can get away with this snake-oil game.

Obviously, they are committing grievous crimes against desperate people. How are they not committing fraud?

I guess what he thinks of fraud isn't what you and I think is fraud. He believes he's doing the work of God and whatever he spends justifies what he does. And unless the people who gives him the money sue him, (and they won't because they believe in him) he will get away with it all.

People can heal and whatnot through demonic power,but I don't think Benny is even doing that.It doesn't feel quite kosher.It's not Biblical behaviour.

What are your opinions about other televangelist like Jack Van Impe, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Creflo Dollar, Robert Schuller, etc.?

I'd put them in the same sort of category as Benny Hinn, although they don't go around making people faint. They all have what is called a "personality cult," not to mention significant personal wealth, and a focus on fundraising activities.

I think I will stick with my local friendly parish where I actually have a name, the focus is on the local community, and I am not a cheque number in their books.

Did you ever see that expose on that one 'healing by fainting' evangelist, where they took a radio scanner into one of his events and they picked up the radio transmissions to an earpiece he was wearing where his wife was revealing information to him as he was making it seem as though he was mysteriously becoming aware of the person's ailments as he talked to them.

they had them fill out some kind of 'prayer cards' when they came in and hand them in with donations or something like that... his wife would read him the information and he had a hidden earphone

There have been many guys just like him. Even ones that don't claim to heal you still take yor money. what was that guys name Jim baker or something? Tammy Fay Baker's  ex husband wasn't he arrested years ago for stealing millions off his viewers.He was always asking you to send him money.
Then you have the priests who raped all those boys at St. Vincents and many other places.  All Sickos if you ask me!

I read somewhere that the only major difference between the saved and unsaved is that one group is forgiven.I am NOT promoting gay or filth of any sort or kind.I am vociferously against ALL of that kind of corruption,and I'm not promoting continual wrongdoing.It's just what I read.I also read that GOD will DESTROY any so called "saved" individuals who continue in sin.Maybe that is why some of these continually bad people have such spectacular demises![xx(]
