I will start off by making this short and expand as needed.

The site has been down for over a week as many of you know and the reason behind that is a major fault on our hosting provider. They reformatted our drives and nuked our on-line back-ups.

The very bad news is this, DV has lost it's content due to a failure at the hosting side and even more so we discovered that the hard drive we use to backup DV is corrupt.

We are trying to recover the data but have yet been successful, so we are currently looking for a much older backup. This is obviously devastating news for every member at DV including myself. We are currently on a temporary server and our new server will be ready tomorrow. Rest assured we are doing all we can to bring back DV but please help our community by actively participating in posting at this time.

Also all previous members will have to re-register at this time.

wow, that sounds like a major F-up, but then again, all those lost posts on that site are probably better off lost in a black hole  Grin

Dv is still down, if it does come up for a minute we should just tell people to come here, they are beyond help there it seems

I was banned a few times because one of the mods was a complete turd.

I think he was Chinese.

It isn't very likely that any of the mods at DV were/are Chinese. DocWatson would have been banned in perpetuity looong ago for being a racists and obnoxious twit if any one of them had even as little as a single molecule of Chinese blood in his veins.

As former DV'ers here well know he was permitted to spew his fanciful and hatefull theories endlessly while those that voiced their opposition were usually silenced eventually.

You could be right. All I know is that one of my bans was for quoting a politician who had something rather strong to say about minorities. The mod seemed to think they were my words.

I'll take back the Chinese part and say that at least one of the mods is a complete retard.

I found the Vancouver Forum Topix and it has DV latest posts before it went down.  Tried to sign up and lo and behold someone has ALREADY taken my regular posting name! Crud. I've been no name for years.  I wonder if this affects the new signup for DV...
