So what is your opinion on the paralised guy that hid in a temple for a month to prevent being deported?
He wants to stay on compassionate grounds ,but his health cost would be enourmous!! His bill at VGH is already over $400,ooo!

I've heard about this. Can someone provide me with a link to the story or let me know about the background to this story?

It took 10 rcmp and border guards to arrest a paralyzed guy??

Crappy circumstances in this case, I think the issues should be separated when making the decisions on something like this.... sure the medical costs are high but in the broad scope it is a rare case and the decisions should be made solely based on how we would deal with a refugee regardless of medical condition.

Pretty drastic way to avoid being deportation. I'm in agreement with Grenade here though it's not a black-white picture when it comes to claiming refugee status.

Thanks for the link, NSgirl.

He should be immediately deported.

He came to Canada illegally and his disability is costing us hundreds of thousands of dollars.

$400 a day to keep this illegal alien in my country!

His refugee claims have been found bogus and he needs to be kicked out now.

Do you really want to support this criminal and have him getting hospital treatment, in an already overcrowded system, that could be used for your loved ones?

To show everyone what a softy I am, I propose that we Canadians generously offer our tax dollars to pay for his immediate flight home to india.

Sam Sullivan could have done it single handed and no need to call out a handidart.[Cheesy]

I second that. Personally I think he should be imprisoned here in Canada for violating our laws, and then be deported upon completion of his sentence. Any money earned here in Canada should be expropriated by the Canadian Government
