we are leading in the gold medals, and are creeping up on the states for over all, but are still in 3rd place over all.

i just said 'bout 1-2 days ago that we might take the lead in gold and we did and i just love it!!!!!!
no one takes into consideration the population. this must be considered. if your family and my family were to compete and i had 10 kids and you 1 kid would it be fair to guess who would win more medals?? ?? ?? sh-t canada only has 33 million to look for the best, the usa has over 300 million and germany is somewhere inbetween. my point is, that by mathematical ratio, canada is ahead in every medal by an exorbitant lead and we have something to be damn proud of--OUR ATHLETES AND ESPECIALLY THE GIRLS!!!!!!!! damn it i feel proud of canada tonight.

When we win the hockey we'll have the highest number of gold won by a country. In 1976 I think it was Russia that won 13 gold.

you sound very optimistic Mandy. a little more sure of the gold than me, after watching the Americans and the Canadians play throughout the series, i think the canucks are in for a tough fight for the gold. Not that they cant do it!!!!!!!!

hoping they look a lot different today than they have thus far

The whole "own the podium" thing is retarded.

We spent some $110 million on it but other than benefitting a few athletes it's done nothing for the rest of us.

If Canadian athletes won every medal in the games my life wouldn't change a bit.

This idea of "we win" is so false.

The athletes win and will be cashing in on their medals for years to come.

The fact they happened to have been born in the same country as you doesn't mean much.

I mean, when Clifford Olson was out killing children did anybody think, "We're child murders?"

true they are the real winners in it all, still if we had the games here and only won like 3 bronze of something like that, you would feel pretty crappy [I would anyway]
I am proud of our athletes and Yes it did do something for a good chunk of us. It brought out our
Patriotism. I feel quite proud when I see what our athletes accomplished compared to most other countries. I also feel proud walking around and seeing so many people in red and all the canadian flags on houses/cars etc. It has been a good experience for me.I have enjoyed the games 10 x more then I ever thought I would.
I'm glad I stayed in town to be part of them.
I'd rather Cananda spend 110 million on people doing something with their lives then 110 million on a bunch of drunks rioting in the streets bitching about what the goverment owes them.

If we won all the medals or won no medals my life wouldn't change one bit.

I have no problem with people wanting to skate in circles as fast as they can but I do have a problem with us paying them to do so.

Why do you care if some person by the luck of the draw was born in Canada wins a medal for going down a hill really fast on a snowboard?

Why does this make you proud or excited?

Are you living vicariously through these people or something?

And now those millionaire NHL players are going to get $25,000 each from us taxpayers for the gold medal bonus.
