I have a Zap Bat and am running round the house zapping flies

I also zapped my knee and regreted it, yet it is quite addictive so I keep electrocuting myself.

haha looks like quite the toy!! I would say the death would be pretty instantaneous, the fly wouldn't even know what hit them Tongue

yup, did a bee

It pretty much screws with the bigger ones nervous system and kills them straight away.

It is environmentally friendly as it ozonates the air as you wave it round :-)

if you leave the button down for too long it will burn. Just press it when you hit the thing. Knocks it out of the sky.

I guess it would work on some of the dangerous and large spiders that seem to infringe in areas that I might accidentally put my leg or hand into. I don't like to kill them though...

so far I just try to move them to a further away spot, they seem to have an intelligence and awareness to them so I don't feel right in killing them

flies on the other hand seem to be little drones that are just operating on mindless chemical stimuli

You realize some bee is writing a screenplay about the horror of you on a microscopic typewriter.

I was just thinking about what if some extremely technologically advanced alien species came from outer space and thought of us as being as insignificant as we think of insects... that would suck [Cheesy]

Oh gee, you might have to make a preemptive strike and get her with the zapper before she gets you [:p]

As you may know i am so pregnant i'm useless. Sis-in-law makes giant overture to come and help out. Tells everyone on the family tree she will go to help her little brother and his poor wife out. Will bring tons of baby things. So i'm all ready and looking forward in a small way to at least the help though the company usually has some sort of catch. She never shows up. Flies in, visits two cousins and goes home. Tells everyone all about her visit to the cousins and doesn't really mention not actually stopping in to see us.

Why? It can't be just the pregnancy hormones that makes this seem so outrageous.

hmm, that sounds extremely odd.... maybe she is just one of those hyperactive personalities that says one thing and then in a frenzy does a bunch of other stuff instead?

Maybe. My husband says just saying she was coming was enough to make her look so very kind and generous. Want to start gossip that she is having an affair with a cousin and we were her big front. If nothing else interesting happens in the next few months maybe I'll save it as the big mean incident to blame on the hormones (joking!).

yeah, I can say it is always best to grin and bear it when it comes to family, so many long term rifts and dumb conflicts that years later you look back on it is just one of those things that it is better to be the one that always makes the best of situations rather then dwelling in the conflict zone

Yes. Better to just keep your hands away from the spiders than to have to zap them!

Yesterday, I killed what i believe to be a brown recluse spider.  It was shuffling around a bunch of grocery bags which were storing things and was so noisy I thought it was a mouse or other rodent- Squirrel, rat, etc.

Anyways, if there's one of them hanging around are there likely to be more that I haven't found?

Hopefully a bug expert knows something...

it makes sense if you found one there must be more, unless it got carried there somehow

could have been a recluse or a similar spider that can hurt you too called the hobo spider

did you spot the 'violin' on its back?

Yep, it looked just like the online pics.  Gross...and I hate spiders...well the little ones are okay.

Maybe it snuck in through a crack and was the only one?

And I found it in our bedroom so now I'm looking around at everything to make sure a giant spider isn't there.  Totally paranoid!

the thing I've noticed with black widows is that they roll up in a ball and play dead when they fear for their lives, I saw one play dead for over 5 minutes, they also try to find a crack or something to squeeze into and hide and play dead

really interesting, problem is it just looks like a little black ball but if you move it the legs spring out and they start running

I would hate to shake out my shoes only to have the spider playing dead and staying in the bottom of the shoe somehow
