When passing by a coworker or customer... This is the correct answer you should give during the following common greeting:  "Hey, how's it going!"

You say this, and this only; "Good and you?"  And you respond with "good!" (or vice versa if you're being asked first) and you keep on your way.  I don't need peoples life story when I ask this question in passing, as it is commonly courteous to acknowledge someone you know in the work place, so by following this simple procedure, you will relieve yourself, and the asker of the question the inbound headache of taking that light hearted question to heart and providing or being given a lenghty story you seriously don't give a crap about in the first place.

On a lighter note,  Rueben panini for dinner!!  yummmmm

I no longer ask "how are you ... etc"

I don't have time for the "' I am so ..... etc " response from them.

I just say good morning, afternoon or evening.

plain and simple.

good evening all.

I laughed when I heard one guy respond to someone asking him "how are you?" he says "I'm adequate"
I thought that was a good reply, rather then the usual"fine thanks"

How about when someone asks "what's happening?" and people answer "nothing"
