^  exactly why I drive or bike. Apart from the terminally strange as illustrated above, in the winter the air in a public transit bus or skytrain is a purulent stew of viruses and mucus, and in the summer the air is ripe with the stench of those who don't bathe regularly, if at all.

I've got a question, how long would it take to commute using public transit only from Aldergrove to downtown Robson street each way?

Well, Bus #502 does connect Aldergrove with the SkyTrain at Surrey Central... I'd be guessing an hour ride on the #502, and then another 40 minutes on the SkyTrain... So, I'll estimate an hour and 45 minutes, maybe 2 hours if traffic is bad on the #502...

I just grabbed the Surrey/Langley Public Timetable dated Dec 14th, and they show the 1st #502 bus leaving Aldergrove at 5:32am, with an estimated arrival at Surrey Central of 6:36am, THEN SkyTrain takes 35 minutes from Surrey Central to Burrard Stn, not including the wait time for the actual train... So, an approx arrival time at Burrard & Dunsmuir of say 7:15am???

Weekdays there are zones, so $5 cash fare each way, or save $$$ with at least a $9 DayPass or the book of 10 FareSaver tickest works out to $3.80 a ticket (Until end of March, tickets & passes are going UP April 1...) Tickets & transfers only valid for 90 minutes... Daypass valid entire day...

You can go to www.translink.ca and enter route #502 and then click on Public Timetable if you wanted to see the whole schedule...

PS: There is more frequent & earlier service from Langley Centre, if you can get yourself that far...

I saw something on the news about it, and didn't pay too much attention.

The city of Vancouver (NOT TRANSLINK) has borrowed 2 street cars from Europe and are running them FREE for 2 months between Granville Island and the Olympic Village, near 2nd & Cambie area...
The city would like to run street cars from Granville Island to Science World, and then on to Chinatown, and maybe even continue over to Stanley Park... BUT, no $$$ (Actually $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$)...
If they ever get funding, this m-i-g-h-t- be the technology they might consider along Broadway out towards UBC... BUT, I don't think that'll happen in my lifetime, there simply isn't any money to do it...

Lots of info online at www.translink.ca including the BUZZER BLOG with links to the print edition of The Buzzer, and the latest edition has lots of information, like a list of all FREE Olympic events!
